Closed Debates?

The Presidential debates in 2008 have thus far proven to be the biggest farce on the American political scene in years. Probably not since the last Presidential election have we seen so little substance actually debated by the candidates. McCain and Obama have shown themselves to be completely unable to lead a country during a crisis. Sorry John suspending your campaign for a couple of days while you return to Washington and sit on your ass doesn't count. True leadership in a crisis like the one we are still facing would mean that each candidate actually write their own bill and try and establish a way to lead the country out of the mess we're in. Rather McCain and Obama both decided to completely follow Henry Paulson and Bernanke's plan to create $700 billion dollars and "save" the banks that are in trouble. When a Second Amendment question is asked to the candidates Obama sounds almost as strong as McCain. Either John McCain isn't for Second Amendment rights or he cannot bring himself to take a position of leadership on the issue. The same goes just as strong for Obama. These men are so concerned with getting elected they have forgotten the job their vying for is to LEAD. The American people have not forgotten that this is the Presidents job. Why have the politicians in Washington?

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) was formed in 1987 to guarantee that every Presidential election would have at least one debate between the candidates. The problem lies in the fact the CPD is ran by former and current Republicans and Democrats. The CPD is not in the least interested in allowing the American people to make an informed decision in the election cycle but rather ensure they remain entrenched in the same two party system that they themselves belong to. The one time the CPD did allow a third party candidate into the debates in 1992, Ross Perot took 20% of the Popular vote and caused the election to swing to Bill Clinton. Since seeing the success of the third party candidates especially if allowed to debate the CPD has since set the bar so high it's nearly impossible any third party contender can enter the debates. How we can go around the world destroying regimes because we claim they are not democratically elected when in our own country the political system is a totalitarian two party system? The idea this is even plausible is ridiculous! The good news is this year more than any other the American voters have started to demand that all the candidates voices be heard from. Now if only the CPD will listen.

The danger to the Demopublicans is that if the debates are opened Americans will actually see candidates with backbone! Candidates, men and women, who are not only charactered but people who want to LEAD this country. Right or Wrong. Not the spineless candidates the Demopublicans field. I wish Ralph Nader would win the Whitehouse even though I oppose a lot of the things Nader believes in, at least he's a leader, a man with backbone. Where are those people in the two parties? In Washington? Two names come to my mind and only two. Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul. Both of which had strong followings in their bid to win the nomination of their respective parties. Even though the media completely ignored them and their parties considered them fringe candidates. Dr. Paul especially connected with a large percentage of the Republican base. Why? Because Dr. Paul is a leader not a politician. Dr. Paul is much like Barry Goldwater he knows what he believes and he fights for it. Leadership like that is exactly what this country needs. Imagine if the debate was opened up to all the candidates. Nader might give Obama a run for his money in California and Washington, Barr might give McCain a run for his money in Neveda or Idaho, and it might be a free for all in Ohio! This kind of election would be great for everyone. It would ensure that every party pick a candidate that would have backbone and uphold the parties platform. Candidates with moral backbone to do as they promised. So please consider contacting the CPD and asking them to allow every candidate the chance to debate and offer their ideas to the American people.

Seperation of State and Business!

Separation of Church and State has been a foundation of the US Government since our founding. Our founders understood the importance of the State not interfering with the Church. The Church in America realized the danger of a Church gaining the power of Government. Many Christians had come to America to escape the "State Church" taxes and religious political coercion of Europe. This Separation has proven to truly allow America to be a religiously free country. I would like to argue that this nation should also embrace the ideology of Separation of State and Business.

People love the idea of State rule over business. It makes them feel safe. They must realize this is a false sense of security. There must be a separation of State and Business. For the good of both. One could even make a case that for the success of both they should be separate. Elitist control the US government, the military complex is making money hand over fist in our current "war on terror". The business and banking lobbyist whispering in the ears of our current governing rulers is easily evident. Government 'oversight' and 'control' of business quickly results in business controlling government. Once business realizes government control they buy politicians, for business will never allow control to slip from their grasp. This process quickly reduces government to corruption. To control by big corporations, and the financially elite of our society. Wrestling control of government to themselves and away from the people. These corporations move for even more government control of business, causing more red tape, and restrictions ensuring their cartel will never be broken. They will continue to allow capitalism, to a certain degree, so that they can continue making money. I think this is the current state of the government in the US. This system is broken and must be fixed.

This form of government will eventually embrace Socialist policies such as welfare, healthcare, public education and other government handouts. These programs eventually will be used by corrupt government to continue to prop up the cartels formed by the businessmen and elitist who control the government. These government institutions are the final nail in the coffin for these corporations. They make it impossible to topple their monopoly and power. They are nailing Capitalism to the cross of decay. The American dream to the cross of slavery. In a Socialist society people become lazy and therefore complacent. America is hanging on the verge of this most damning catastrophe.

The solution to this problem is returning back to Laissez-faire Capitalism, following the Austrian and Chicago Schools of economics. If government involvement in business is eliminated, business will have no reason to be in government. Control of government could be returned back to the people. Democrats and many Republicans would immediately play the fear card of uncontrolled business and banking! They would tell of the dangers of a Free Market and warn of huge Monopolies. If I could just point to the fact in the US today there are more monopolies and cartels than there ever were in the days before we had all the government regulations. Power companies, oil refineries, and phone companies are great examples of the kind of monopolies the current government red tape has caused. It doesn't work. Capitalism does work. The Industrial Revolution, the first 130 years of our country, Capitalism does work. The only question left is when will Washington realize this?

Barr 2008!

This election cycle has in my opinion shown why the Republicans and Democrats are so severely in need of being voted out of office. Barack Obama and John McCain are almost one and the same. They bicker over the smallest issues and try to appear different for the sake of getting votes. The past week it was very apparent how similar the two are economically. Both candidates chose to vote for the Bailout. Both want more regulation in response to this 'crisis'. Foriegn Policy is also the exact same for both candidates. McCain will get the Right's vote, because just as Bush espoused, he's for physical responsibility, smaller government, and morally leans to the right. Even though the Republicans always play this card, they do nothing. They controlled both houses of Congress, and the Whitehouse, yet we saw no change in any of the moral laws. Except partial birth abortion ban. Yet these, in many cases, religiously duped people will show up and vote for McCain. Obama will bring more socialist change to the US but he will be severely crippled in these policy decisions because of the $850+ Billion dollar bailout. When the two candidates debated in Mississippi it was a national disgrace. Not one major policy was debated, the whole debate was just a congeniality contest. Both Obama and McCain will bring more of the same ignorant leadership that has led this country since WW2.

Bob Barr, the Libertarian Candidate for President is the only candidate that will start to move America back in the right direction. Bob Barr will abolish the Dept. of Education, effectively destroying the monopoly the government has over Education. Barr is for starting troop withdraws from Iraq and against permanent bases. He is also against the US funding of the Iraq government and economy. Bob is for securing the Borders, for the 2nd Amendment, against FISA and Patriot Acts. Barr is also against Immanent domain. Bob Barr is America's only choice in 2008. He would bring the kind of change we truly need. Not the same political non-sense the Demopublicans are throwing in the face of the American people. Vote for true change in 2008. Bob Barr!
