Canadian Election 2008

Tuesday Canada held their elections! The results were not encouraging on the Libertarian front. The Conservatives did manage to hold on to their majority in the Parliament. I think the best news in the election is that the NDP only won 37 seats. The NDP is the completely Socialist party of Canada. The Conservative Party won 144 seats, taking the slim majority. The Liberals took 74 seats, the Bloq Quebecois won 50 seats, with 3 seats falling under the "other" category. The Libertarian Political movement is significant because Libertarian voters and party members also embrace the Libertarian ideology. I hope in the future we will see a great colaboration among the world's Libertarian Parties. Because Libertarianism is an ideology not just a political platform. Hopefully we can encourage our Libertarian friends in Canada to keep up the good fight!

Yours in Liberty,
Nate
